FC Barcelona has yet to register five players for the 2025/26 season due to delays in financial audits. However, the club is confident it will finalize all registrations before their La Liga opener against Mallorca on August 16.
📋 5 Players Still Waiting for Registration
As of today, five players remain unregistered:
- Joan Garcia
- Marcus Rashford
- Wojciech Szczęsny
- Gerard Martín
- Roony Bardghji
Among them, Roony Bardghji poses the least concern — he can temporarily be registered with the B team, which eases some administrative pressure.
Initially, the club hoped to complete registrations before the Gamper Cup, but Catalan outlet Sport confirms that won’t be the case.
🧾 VIP Deal Audit Delaying Process
The primary reason for the delay is the pending audit of a key financial operation involving the sale of VIP seating rights at Spotify Camp Nou. The audit, conducted by Crowe Spain, is required for La Liga to validate the deal.
The transaction in question involves leasing 475 VIP seats to two firms for a total of €100 million over 30 years:
- Fortia Advisor Limited: €30M
- New Era Visionary Group: €70M (of which €28M has been paid, with the rest pending in installments)
Crowe has already confirmed that the VIP seats have been physically installed, a prerequisite for La Liga approval. The audit is expected to be finalized early next week, after which La Liga can review and return Barça to the 1:1 financial rule — meaning the club can spend as much as it saves or earns.
💸 Club Still Calm – More Income, Lower Wages
Despite the delay, Barcelona is not panicking. The club expects all five players to be registered in time for the season opener. A few key financial developments have helped:
- A new commercial agreement with the Democratic Republic of the Congo has brought additional revenue.
- Significant wage bill reductions have occurred with the departures of:
- Ansu Fati (€8M saved)
- Pau Víctor (€9M)
- Pablo Torre (€4M)
- Plus savings from Lenglet, Peña, Romeu, and potentially Héctor Fort
🧤 Ter Stegen Situation Unrelated
Interestingly, Joan Garcia’s registration is not affected by the unresolved disciplinary case involving Marc-André ter Stegen. The club is prepared to register Garcia independently, keeping all options open for its goalkeeping department.
